Text-only? Plans for multimodal release?
I noticed the release is text only, are there any plans on releasing a version with the missing encoders or not? Are the rest of the weights the exact same as Max, or are there other alterations?
max doesent usually have vision, but the community will definitly make vision for it!!
max doesent usually have vision
According to the model card: In particular, Qwen3.8-Max is the official version based on Qwen3.8-2.4T-A95B with more features, such as vision input & non-thinking support, 1M context length by default, official built-in tools, etc. For more information, please refer to the Qwen3.8-Max Overview.
So, while I haven't tested it, they claim Max currently does have vision when using their endpoint, just not when using what they released open-weights. And on the community thing, yeah that much is clear, but having the original encoder with which it was trained from the start is still very valuable to have
